Tips on Spotting a Losing and Winning Trend Teams have peaks and valleys much like stocks. Also, like stocks you need to know when to get in and when to get out. When spotting a trend you need 3 sources of information in order to Identify the situation as a trend: 1-What type of team is it-For this we need to categorize teams into three categories: A-Teams that Don't let up-These are teams that may not have the traditional talent or statistics that make teams in the NFL winners, Like, Great QB Stats, (Some times W-L Record), Key Passing/Rushing stats, etc... Perfect Example: New England Patriots, Their stats don't necessarily match up with their scoring offense (23 points a game) and scoring defense(17 points a game). Another example is the Detroit Lions from week #4 to week #13, They lost 10 games by an average of a Whopping 3.8 points a contest. Unorthodox teams are also overachievers. They tend to start the season off slow and then pick up the pace. They are in most games. Ways to I.D. Teams that don't let up: (1) They play close games (7 or less points), regardless of opponent for at least 2 consecutive weeks. (2) Add the turnover Differential of the two consecutive close games it must be a 1 or better in those close games.
